Hey guys. I never write in this thingy, partially because I have a livejournal, but I feel like writing something about my artwork right now. Whoohoo! I was going through my portfolio from this year and then I compared it to my portfolio from the photography class I took last year and it is AMAZING how much my work improved. I think what I really need to photograph is people. I can't just take pictures of things because I feel no affinity towards them. What I have learned from doing more portraiture this year is that people can change their expressions and allow their personality ((or the artist's personality)) to be exposed in the work. When a photographer takes a picture of a building it hardly allows one viewing his/her work to get a glimpse at what this person is like. But when someone photographs people in an artistic way....let's just say it is amazing of the difference a subject change can make.

Although my photography skills ((Both while taking pictures and for the technical stuff like processing film and making prints)) have improved drastically from last year, I miss the assignments we would do that kind of strayed from the cirriculum. For example, we had an assignment to make a scratch art of whatever we wanted. I did a scratch art project on Bjork and it came out gorgeous. We also had a collage assignment that I had so much fun on. I think one thing I should start doing is collaging again. Photograms are terrific, too. Even though we only made one photogram I think I'm going to try to make another beautiful one before this school year is over.
Sorry if this doesn't make so much sense. I am tirrredd!
